If you like a good margarita as much as me, you may be always looking for a little twist on one of your favorite beverages. This twist provides a more earthy margarita and is especially fun to serve for your girl friends!
Here are the ingredients for the super simple lavender simple syrup( I got this recipe from Perpetually Chic’s blog).
-2 cups trader joes organic sugar
-1 cup water
-4 tablespoons of lavender buds
this will make about 1 1/2 cup of simple syrup. It can stay fresh in the fridge for one month.
Next, you can use a lime to wetten the rim of your glasses and then rim them with your favorite salt.
Finally, mix with your favorite tequila ( I like 100% agave 1800 silver) , fresh limes, and sparkling lime juice👌🏻.
-1 tablespoon lavender simple syrup
-1-2 shots of tequila
-the juice for 2 limes
-1cup of sparkling like water
-5 large ice cubes
-shake and serve in rimmed glassware
-garnish with 1 like wheel and two lavender strands.
For a more simpler version you can mix with a pre- made margarita mix ( Golden Margarita from Costco is great).
Serve with tortilla chips and guacamole.
This past week we shared on our insta account some everyday uses you can use our sprays for. It was pretty fun chatting about the purposes of our sprays and seeing the direct link to healthy living!! And even more so, how each spray is apart of a balanced routine. I am a Libra and Libras are ALL about BALANCE.
On Monday we chatted about our Lavender Sea Water and our Sweet Doggy Dreams spray and how they can promote a more restful sleep. We all need sleep and luckily I have been very fortunate that I typically sleep really well and can sleep on airplanes or even in cars.
On Tuesday we chatted about our Yummy Tea House Yoga Mat Spray! You can spray 4-5 sprays on your yoga mat or towel and it is sure to awaken your breathing and help to void off sweaty smells ( and believe me…I did Bikram hot yoga for 8 years and the STRUGGLE with the yoga smells were REAL). So now I carry my tea house spray!!
On Wednesday we shared about our Wild Flower spray and how the smell of certain flowers especially roses are literally some of the best smells in the world. If you smell an amazing flower is can completely change your day! Our favorite use for it is to spray 3-4 sprays on our wrist or neck before a date. However, this spray is equally usable in your pillow/ bed!!
Thursday, I met “Shayla” an adorable rescue dog from Trinidad and Tobego. She was wearing the prettiest puppy dress and I just had snap a pic and connect it to our Pretty in Peppermint spray. Our Peppermint spray is an all time favorites because it is perfect for active people who want to use a plant based product to lightly disinfect bacteria and refreshen with the beautiful scent of peppermint! Spray 4 sprays on each foot ( toes included) with or without polish for yummy peppermint toes!
Friday, we shared about our citrus melody blend and how you can use it in the morning or throughout the day to really awaken and uplift!! This one for me is great because I am trying to not drink coffee everyday.
Hope you enjoyed. Please keep us posted if you have new ideas in how you use our sprays and tag us in your pics📷📷 @thistleplusrose
Last week I attended a workshop called “Beauty Food” at the new Studio B Well on Park Avenue in San Diego. We got to hear Leah Scherotter discuss ways to detoxify our makeup cabinets and refill them with sustainable and plant based products that nourish instead of harm. She discussed the possible harmful effects of certain ingredients that Americans and specifically American women have been putting on our bodies for decades most likely unaware of the toxicity that existed in the products. I’m not going to lie it kind of SCARED the SHIT outta me😖.The scariest part is many of these ingredients have been banned in the EU but continue to be used in the USA. Especially since lately it seems that I am hearing about more and more people I know or my students I know who have been effected by cancer. Shitty.
So back to the workshop… It was invigorating to be in a room full of women who feel in some way or another that we have plenty of room to have more consciousness about what we are choosing to put on our bodies. We also have OPTIONS!
I left the workshop with cute a list of ingredients to stay away from, a list of ingredients to indulge in, and an adorable “Beautyfood” bag!
One aspect of the workshop really stuck with me: NAILPOLISH. How could I be so blind?? The interesting part is I have never thought getting my nails did (yes, nail polish has formalildihyde in it) was going to be good for my nails… I typically went for the relaxing experience and a fun color on my nails. However, most of the time while or after I go to a nail salon I also wonder about how many chemicals these nail artists are getting exposed to?? So I went online and have found that luckily there are starting to be some alternatives to these chemical filled products! I won’t say they are 100% free of toxins but I can say companies are starting to make changes! OPI has a color I like that is formaldehyde free, and I know some smaller companies are making nail polish with natural plant bases ( beets for example) !
If you want to learn more about this you can read two books that were recommended to me ( the first one I am currently reading) and the next one I plan to read soon!!

So it’s almost Spring time and I don’t know about you but this time of year makes us itch to get healthy, to be more active, and start consuming more fresh fruit and veggies ( and let’s be honest we should ALWAYS have this mentality BUT we get busy). So our advice?? Lavender & Pomegranate Liquados!
Did you know that lavender is in the mint family?? This opens up SO many culinary options. Not only is lavender a beautiful garnish for just about anything, consuming lavender has also been known to help nervousness and headaches. Pomegranate juice is also one of the best fruits to consume to prevent cancer. So we hope you enjoy this delicious and healthy recipe for Lavender & Pom Liquados! By the way a liquado is similar to a smoothie.
Serving Size: 2 Liquados
2 organic bananas
1/2 cup chopped pinapple
1 cups of almond milk
1 cup ice
8 ounce pomegranate juice
1 tbsp honey
2 tsps of dried or fresh Unsprayed and washed lavender
2 lavender stems with flowers for garnish.
load all ingredients in a blender and blend for 3 minutes. Serve in mason jars and sprinkle and garnish with lavender! Let us know how you LOVE this recipe as much as we do!
So you know when you look at a globe and most of it looks blue? Well that is because the we actually have a rediculous amount of ocean water!!! An even REDICULOUS amount! As a matter of fact we think that it showcases the endless potential sea water has… even when used in tiny amounts such as in our mists! The idea is that we are using less fresh water which is allocated for drinking. What do you think?? That is all for today. Hope you all have a lovely weekend!!
Here it is: Reason #2 in why using purified sea water in our mists are beneficial to us!! Natural sodium chloride from sea water acts as a cleanser. The salt found in sea water is also found to reduce excess oils! While salt water can be clarifying, the magnesium found in sea water can also hydrate skin. So as you just read using sea water in our pillow sprays or face mists just makes perfect sense!!
dev·as·tat·ing mess1highly destructive or damaging. DROUGHT:
Our #1 Reason to filter sea water for our pillow sprays—–> To be involved in a movement to conserve water.
California is experiencing the longest drought we have experienced in a century and it doesn’t appear that things will be changing anytime soon. So what can we do about it? For starters we can decide to educate ourselves and those around us about what a devastating state California really is in. Folks, this is just sad and dev·as·tat·ing 1highly destructive or damaging. Because we are the world’s fifth- largest supplier of food and grow 43 percent of the nation’s fruits, nuts, and vegetables (The Economics of California’s drought) this is seemingly depressing for a multitude of reasons. First off, according to The New York Posts article, “Drought Will Cost California Thousands of Jobs” last year alone 17,000 farm workers lost their jobs due to the California drought. The drought currently encompasses over 98% of the state of California.
So in an effort to make a bit of a difference….
